Did You Find . . .?
Several members of the T-Party joined members of the Bay State MGA Club for a Scavenger hunt in Westford, MA on July 22nd.  Jack and Jan Horner hosted and organized the hunt.  Each Driver/Navigator team was issued a packet containing a Score Sheet (for recording answers), a 2-page map of Westford, Notes to Drivers and a list of Points of Interest within the town.

The object of the hunt was to tour the town of Westford in search of paper plates fastened to telephone poles. So, don ’t drive down streets that don’t have poles. On the plates were written both a number (corresponding to a numbered blank on the score card) and a letter to be written in the blank. We drew starting directions (first two turns) from a hat and then, as someone said, we “wandered aimlessly about Westford looking for paper plates”. The object was to construct (or guess) the phrase on the scorecard. Numbers & letters obtained from plates at the Points of Interest were used for a bonus phrase.

We had about 2 ½ hours to hunt before we all returned to the Horner’s for burgers & dogs on the grill with all the fixin’s and great conversation.

Priscilla & I only managed to find about 10 of the 40 letters for the phrase and 4 of the 10 for the bonus.  That allowed us to guess the phrase but we didn’t have a clue about the bonus.

What we learned:

• Westford is much larger than Upton.  We think you could

cover all of Upton in 2 ½ hours.

• Westford was originally part of Chelmsford.

• There are some really nice old houses in Westford.

• The mosquitoes were out in force in the conservation land!

• There is a Stone Arch Bridge spanning Stony Brook that is over 100 years old.

• T Cars aren’t the only ones to “Mark their territory” on the driveway (see photo above – with oil dry liberally applied)

And the last thing. . .

Driving Little British Cars on a Sunny Day is Fun! (Yep, that was the phrase that we had to figure out on our tour. How true it is.)
